St. Augustine, Florida. – After a day of confusion over COVID-19 vaccines that prompted long queues at the St. Johns County Health Department, Jake Quigley, business director for the County Health Department, told News4Jax that there is no need to set an appointment to receive the vaccine.
Cars started parking at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, hoping to be shot before the office closes at 3 p.m.
According to Quigley, the phone system has broken down for scheduling appointments and there is currently no way to book a place. The administration’s website said all appointments for this week have been booked, however Some of the 280 vaccines given on Thursday were for people without appointments. Quigley acknowledged that there is confusion and frustration surrounding the administration’s distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
There is an enormous demand that exceeds the supply of vaccines. Quigley said more than 55,000 people are competing for one of only 3,000 vaccines currently available this morning. It is not clear how many vaccines will be given on Friday.

More than 32 cars were in queue outside the St.Johns County Health Department by 6:15 a.m. Officials would begin vaccination at 9 a.m. The department did not indicate that people who managed to make appointments would receive preferential treatment or be treated first.
The Ministry of Health urges patience.
at Provinces of Duval, Clay and Putnam Health departments have made clear that people who show up without appointments will not receive a vaccination dose.
