Hoffes said that a 1999 pickup truck was traveling north on I-385 when the driver veered off the right side of the road and down a bridge, where they collided with a handrail.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck.
The driver died at the scene of the accident.
The pathologist identified the victim as Tyrone Smoot, 56, from West Colombia.
